Violence against women and children remains a devastating global challenge.
New data from the WHO shows alarming statistics: “across their lifetime, 1 in 3 women, around 736 million, are subjected to physical or sexual violence by an intimate partner or sexual violence from a non-partner – a number that has remained largely unchanged over the past decade.
“Intimate partner violence is by far the most prevalent form of violence against women globally. However, 6% of women globally report being sexually assaulted by someone other than their husband or partner. Given the high levels of stigma and under-reporting of sexual abuse, the true figure is likely to be significantly higher.”
Sexual assault against women is an evil in every country and culture, causing detrimental harm to millions of women and children.
The only way to fight this deep-rooted sin and crime is with a Godly justice system. It is important that, together, we work towards creating a society that values life, created in the image of God. And the crime of sexual assault is punished by law. When we stand up and speak out against sexual assault and femicide, we not only do this to improve the laws and services available to victims but also to Christianize the culture by discipling the nations.
Let us strengthen our efforts to support the suffering, by staying committed to preventing harassment and putting pressure on state authorities to apply Godly justice.
